CNN Interactive
The place everyone goes for news on satellite and cable...also
a reliable online news source.
UM Weather
Highly informative and filled with links to current weather data.
Still has a clunky interface, but you can get all the information you could
possibly ever want about weather here, including maps, satellite, radar,
and stats.
This is probably the political party you've been looking
for. A truly viable choice from the business as usual, stagnant political
parties who have been messing with our rights and money for so long.
The Libertarian Party embodies the ideals that everyone has been saying
they want in government. Check it out!
The American Civil
Liberties Union
The ACLU, though much defamed for some of their work,
is one of the most important organizations fighting for the maintenance
of our constitutionally guaranteed rights. Though they sometimes
help organizations and individuals who are not so palatable, the fact is
that if ANY ONES rights are trampled upon, we have all lost. This
is actually the ACLU-Illinois site.
The Electronic Frontiers
Foundation
A very important organization for everyone who uses the
internet. EFF's goal is to both "civilize" the net, and insure that
it remains open, untrammeled, and uncensored. Basically, EFF works
to make the net what we'd all like it to be (with the possible exception
of Pat Robertson et al.)
Email
Your Senator
A list of the email addresses of all senators who have
email. A great resource when you need to contact your elected representative
in a hurry. It also has a
link to a similar resource for the House of Representatives.
Okay, so it's not an outside link!
Out! Magazine's
Data Lounge
A primo source of LesBiGay news, etc. Has much
the same feel as the magazine.
PlanetOut
Talk about media! When it comes to queer information
resources, this is the tops! Streaming audio from gay radio, streaming
video movies, and a WEALTH of news and information.
Men on the Net
Like to look at pictures of men? Well... Hey! Eighteen and older only, please!
Speaks for itself. If you need information from
a specific NASA center (the JPL or Kennedy Space Center, for instance),
you can go to the NASA
Web Information by Center page.
COSMOS
Web site for the new British supercomputing center for
astrophysics, originated by Stephen Hawking, Cambridge University, and
the British government. Fascinating stuff, but the web site is kind
of hokey, and they haven't been updating it.
A site devoted to the Darwin Awards. This award
goes yearly to those individuals who have done the human race the highest
service in removing their DNA from the gene pool by accidentally killing
themselves. A truly funny site. Maintained by Art Bell.
Berkeley Digital
Library SunSITE
Tons of online information...digital versions of books,
periodicals, and reference material. Also has links to similar resources.
Project
Gutenberg Links
This site has links to various Project Gutenberg sites.
Project Gutenberg's mission is to bring as many of world's books to the
net in electronic format. A pretty good collection is online now.
Daisy Data, Inc.
This is the website for the company that I used to work for. Still the only company
that I've worked for that was actually any good.
